User Guide
Tailor is an AI-powered tool that builds targeted, job-specific resumes from your experience data. You feed it your career history, point it at a job posting, and it produces a tailored resume — formatted, keyword-optimized, and ready to submit.
Getting Started
The recommended setup order is: define your positions first, then upload your resumes, then run an interview session to fill gaps.
1. Define Positions
Go to Manage Experience → scroll to the Positions section. Create an entry for each job you've held — employer, title, dates, and optional aliases. Positions are used to organize your experience bullets and scope which roles appear in a generated resume.
When you upload resumes, the system will attempt to auto-create positions from extracted data and link bullets to matching employers. Defining positions manually first gives you more control.
2. Upload Resumes
Go to Manage Experience → Upload Resume(s). Drop one or more .docx or .pdf files and click Ingest. The system extracts text, runs it through an AI categorization pipeline, deduplicates against existing entries, and inserts the results. Each extracted entry is assigned a category (position, bullet, skill, certification, education, etc.) along with tags and context.
3. AI Interview
Go to the Interview tab and start a session. The AI asks targeted questions about your career — probing for metrics, tools, team sizes, outcomes, and accomplishments that your resume didn't capture. As you describe your experience, it extracts data points and presents them as candidate cards you can accept, edit, or skip.
Sessions can be paused and resumed later. The interviewer adapts based on what's already in your pool, focusing on under-represented areas.
4. Generate a Resume
Go to Generate Resume and fill in:
• Job URL — the system scrapes the posting automatically
• Company name (required) and optional job title
• Resume format — Concise (1 page), Standard (2 pages), Federal (2–4 pages), or Executive
• Target industry — tunes language and terminology
• Positions to include — scope which roles the crew draws from
• Tailoring emphasis — Technical Depth, Leadership, Compliance, etc.
• Additional notes — free-text instructions for the AI crew
Generation takes 2–4 minutes. A progress tracker shows each stage. When complete, download links appear for Word (.docx), PDF, and ATS-injected PDF.
5. Applications
Every generated resume creates an application record. Track status from generated → applied → screening → interview → offer (or rejected/withdrawn/ghosted). Download links to your tailored files are available at every stage.
6. ATS Payloads
⚠ Security research feature
The ATS Payloads tab configures prompt injection payloads embedded as invisible white-on-white text in your PDF resumes. These target vulnerabilities in AI-powered resume screening systems. Four injection zones (pre-content, mid-document, post-content, overflow page) with multiple intensity profiles from stealth to aggressive. A verification tool lets you confirm injections are present.
Tips
• Start with the Interview. Even after uploading resumes, the interview surfaces accomplishments and metrics your old resumes didn't capture.
• More data = better resumes. The AI crew selects and tailors from your pool. A richer pool gives it more to work with.
• Use additional notes. "Emphasize cloud migration" or "de-emphasize the retail job" give the crew specific direction.
• Check your experience pool after ingesting. Verify categories, fix miscategorized entries, and merge duplicates.
